It is a pharmaceutical retail company and their 1,500+ employees have a strong commitment to customer service, offering an exceptional experience both online and in person. They’re always looking for new ways to improve the consumer experience.

Recently, Farmashop decided to create a digital platform to help their clerks better assist clients faster. Though the company maintained a wealth of product information in their database, they didn’t provide a simple, modern display for staff. The idea was to come up with a solution where employees could find all of the information needed to support buyers in their shopping needs, and simultaneously increase the drugstore’s efficiency.

Our relationship with Farmashop started in 2017 and our first big project was creating an ESB system to centralize different data sources into a single location. Following this positive experience, we evolved the partnership and have collaborated on many projects since. Together, we’ve built digital products that impact Farmashop’s results in areas such as finance, warehouse and order management, and marketing.

When Farmashop decided to move forward with the customer service web platform, we were a natural fit. It took six months to build and since the beginning of 2021 it’s been used in Farmashop drugstores as a supplementary resource that is easy to access and navigate, enabling clerks to fulfill their clients needs faster and more accurately.

How it works

Employees access the platform to consult on different products their consumers are asking for and answer their questions.
Connect
Users can search for products by name, type, or manufacturer. Once they find the product they are looking for, the system provides detailed data such as price, available discounts, characteristics, number of units in stock, etc. They can even search for alternative options for medicines and other products.
Monitor
Clerks can also use the platform to check clients’ information: past purchases, active prescriptions, benefits available, and others.
Make adjustments
It’s also a channel for reporting clients’ complaints. Clerks are able to register if a buyer said a product was too expensive, for example. Administrators can create reports based on the data in order to identify bottlenecks and inform business decisions.

To deliver a winning solution, we put the main user of this platform, the clerks at drugstores interacting directly with Farmashop consumers, at the center of our process. We started by taking in Farmashop requirements and brainstorming ideas based on the clerks’ work and needs.

We proposed a clean, result-oriented UI where users can easily look for products and scan information promptly. Our main challenge was standardizing the way data was displayed, since some products are information-heavy, such as medicines or beauty products, while others have far less text. The outcome is a dynamic solution that adapts according to the product on sight.

As a company that relies on external vendors for retail software development, Farmashop conducted an internal survey for employees to evaluate partners, and Octobot ranked #1 for response speed, analytical skills, and comprehension of the project and its goals.
