A nation's main pharmacy retail chain

Since 2017, Octobot has collaborated with this pharmacy retail chain, which has more than 100 branches and 1,500+ employees. Farmashop's goal is to be a simple and efficient platform for people to easily purchase medications and other health and self-care products.

Increasing productivity with technology solutions

In these last few years, Farmashop has dedicated time to increasing their process productivity by bringing in tech solutions - and we have been on their side the entire way.

Together, we implemented a system that connects the different software necessary to keep their operations flowing seamlessly. Most recently, we've worked on web and mobile apps for optimizing their ecommerce last-mile delivery process.

And when they realized a stock management system that could facilitate the process of assembling customers orders in an intelligent way was needed as well, we decided to work together once more.

An improved stock and delivery management system

Farmashop customers can buy their products in different ways: website, mobile app, telephone, etc. Nowadays, when a new purchase is made, each one of these channels has its own logic for setting the order and delivering it

In order to make processes more efficient and adaptable to change, the company's executive team decided it was time to standardize the stock management, making sure all sales channels follow the same steps for preparing orders.

For that, Octobot organized two dev teams: one in charge of the delivery process and another dedicated to the stock management system, which is the project we're highlighting in this case study.

The goal was to centralize the orders’ preparation in a unique platform that has information of all the stocks and orders that will also connect with the delivery app once it's finished.

Elevating pharmacy retail chain technology

Routing planning
Once a new order is placed, independently of its purchase source, the platform will automatically consider the best branch for preparing the products based on the stock, the buyer location, and the type of order (urgent, for the next day, etc).
Assembly capacity
It also considers the locations' different assembly capacities, since each branch has a limit of products it can assemble within a time range according to its size and number of employees. Understanding the business and the logic behind the branches and stocks was a challenging factor.
Web & mobile
This project has two components, a web version where logistic employees can charge branch information and make changes in the order management criteria, and a mobile app for the order assembly, used by the sales staff in Farmashop's locations.

Having such a platform offers Farmashop's employees an easier path for managing their sales, and it's also more simple to implement changes since you can do it once in a unique system, instead of adapting different platforms.

At the end of the day, it all translates into an increased customer satisfaction, since orders are prepared and sent in a timely, high-quality manner. It also connects with the other platform for giving clients more and better delivery options.

We already implemented the system incorporating purchases made by phone calls. Soon, we'll integrate other purchase channels, such as the website and mobile app, in order to unify stock management for the entire pharmacy chain.

Recently we've also worked on improving the geographical availability of shipments and went through QA processes to increment the product's quality.
