SES-imagotag is the #1 company for digital price tag solutions
They’re the world’s absolute leader in providing retail businesses with smart electronic price labels and pricing automation. SES-imagotag provides enterprise labeling systems for multinationals such as Walmart and Sephora.

Innovation for an underserved market

Innovation for an underserved market
After succeeding in the development of an enterprise solution, SES-imagotag realized they could help small and medium retailers that also wanted to digitize and automate their pricing processes. Small markets and stores could benefit from the electronic price tags too, but most of them couldn’t invest in developing custom software for the tags’ management.
Thinking of offering a complete solution for these potential customers, SES-imagotag’s executive team decided to build a digital platform specifically for SMBs. In order to put this offering out in the market as soon as possible, they started to look for a software development agency to expedite their plans: while their in-house team focused on their yearly roadmap, we came in as a flexible, agile partner to meet this new service’s time to market.

A mobile app that supports in-store digital technology

A mobile app that supports in-store digital technology
Our partnership started in May 2021 and it’s ongoing since then. This new product we’ve been working on is called Tagr and it’s a mobile app to manage your retail products and their digital price tag in a secure and simple way. Digital labeling technology makes the pricing process much more efficient and accurate, providing a better experience for consumers and giving businesses more information about their products.
Our team of designer and developers dedicated to this project collaborated with SES-imagotag’s team to explore the app's UX/UI, to later design and code the product. It integrates with retailers' Point-of-Sale (POS) systems in order to gather product information automatically. In the app, users can organize their products' data and how they want to display prices using the digital tags. While their in-house team manages most of the product backend, we focus on the frontend and integrations.
New technologies, multidisciplinary collaboration
In this project we use React Native and Firebase, a Google platform for building web and mobile apps that makes it easier to create databases, implement authentication steps and push notifications, and many other cloud-based services. This was Octobot’s first project that incorporated Firebase, an insightful experience that increased our internal knowledge in this technology.
As SES-imagotag works with multiple professionals from different countries, we interacted with many colleagues, from backend engineers to marketers, in order to come up with the right solution. It was challenging to align expectations and communicate with a diversity of stakeholders, but we managed to collaborate, always keeping success in mind.

Great feedback for polishing the app’s last details
Great feedback for polishing the app’s last details
Although the app isn’t public yet, we’ve already received positive feedback from internal demos with SES-imagotag stakeholders. Once the product is launched, the idea is to keep iterating it in touch with users’ feedback.
After downloading Tagr directly from their cell phone app store, users will be able to connect with SES-imagotag access point and see all the product and tag information in a single interface. Users can edit pricing tag information and visual setup, filter their products, add new tags using a barcode, or unlink old ones, and even initiate a flashing process that makes the physical price tag emit a light. This will make it easier to find in a store.
