Edquity facilitates access to university grants and Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) for people in need. Users rely on their evidence-based emergency aid management software to apply and receive economic relief.
The platform also provides an end-to-end cash administration solution to help governments and institutions prioritize incoming applications, verify and process applicants, pay people quickly, and track outcomes over time.
To date, Edquity has distributed over $140 million in emergency aid. More than 150,000 people have been helped.

Edquity’s first product was entirely dedicated to university students facing difficulty paying its fees; they could use the software to access grants in an easy, less bureaucratic way. This first platform reached its time to market goal, but the software presented some technical issues and debts that their executive team knew was necessary to overcome.
When they saw an opportunity to offer their platform to other economic aid initiatives, such as the ERAP, they decided to take it. Nevertheless, it was necessary to elevate their software development power and deliver a much more robust product. That’s when they reached out to Octobot.

Since the end of 2021 we’ve gradually onboarded new software developers to Edquity’s in-house team. Both our devs and theirs have collaborated seamlessly, focusing on the same goal: launching the new product’s version with high quality and timeliness.
An important part of the project was developing the user application forms, which included several questions and validation aspects. Another significant part of the engagement was the creation of the administrative dashboard for managing the requests and accepting or rejecting them.
The most challenging aspect of this project was the high level of customization, since the key features were developed by scratch without the use of libraries or other tools. To make sure things were as performant as possible, there was a strong focus on testing and following the best coding practices.
